Plot
It's uncertain what year it is. It's unknown what day, month, or even season it is. Everything has been thrown into chaos. Man has relentlessly waged world war after world war. It's uncertain who started it or even what ended the series of wars, but a time of uneasy peace seems to have descended upon the war-torn planet. It hasn't been long since the war ended. Only several days... Weeks ago, actually, humans were waging war against the great gods of legend. Land was scarred, torn, and ravaged as countries released what they had left of their nuclear and atomic weapons onto the gods. Most of Earth, as a result, has been made completely uninhabitable. There are a few habitable regions, but about ninety-eight percent of the planet remains as nuclear fallout areas. The largest safe region is called simply "Jiā" and sits in the northern mangled remains of what was once known as China. Some also call this place Tiāntáng, a word meaning Heaven in the ancient language of Chinese, due to the large presence of now homeless gods in city. The city is meant to be a refuge for all who seek peace and stability, as the gates to the heavens above and underworlds below have been made useless by man, preventing the gods from returning to their respective realms. However, tensions in Jiā are extremely high in the fresh aftermath of the world-wide war with the gods. Each side blames the other and this unstable peace seems to be slipping away between everyone's fingers. Corruption runs high and not everyone is playing fair. Doctor's aren't treating those of the other side, police are blaming everything on the gods and beating and arresting them without cause. People seem to be itching for conflict and few seem to be for peace. Tensions are rising rapidly in the wake of the war between humans, gods, and all in between. The not exactly experienced or stable government of the relatively new city of Jiā, though, is trying their utmost to keep a civil war from breaking out in the city-state they hoped to be a haven for all. Too many seem to be against peace and options are quickly running out as patience and tolerance wears thin.
